2) What test-takers reported in July 2025 (themes & sample prompts)
These are paraphrased prompts aligned to each task type, compiled from public July-2025 posts/clips plus evergreen patterns seen in official materials. Treat them as practice topics—not leaked questions.
Task 1 — Giving Advice
-
“Your friend wants to buy a car but is worried about costs. Suggest what to do in the short term.” (purchase decision scenario surfaced frequently in 2025 short-form prep clips).
-
Use a 60-second template: Define Problem → Suggest 2 practical steps (eg: cost + safety/insurance) → Mention concluding action.
Task 2 — Talking about a Personal Experience
-
“Describe a time you started a new job/course and how you handled the first week.” (common “first-week” narratives in 2025 coaching content).
Template: When/where → explain the challenge you will be talking about → what actions you took → what was the result of the actions → mention the lesson learned or the impact and try to tie to future.
Task 3 — Describing a Scene
-
“You see a busy community market with families, vendors, and signage. Describe details someone off-site would need.” These scene-description style often mirrors official samples, dont forget to check them . CELPIP
Template: Do a Left-to-right scan → Start and explain 3 specific visuals → Use orientation phrases (“on the right…”,” straight ahead…”, “Around the corner…”) → Mention safety marking like crossing , zebra crossings and landmarks.
Task 4 — Making Predictions
-
“Predict how remote work will change your city’s traffic over the next 5 years.” (future-trend prediction; common in 2024/25 prep streams).
Template: Explain your Current state → Mention two trends eg commute time, efficiency , work life balance → who benefits/loses and how a balance should be achived → actionable tip.
Task 5 — Comparing & Persuading
-
“Your condo board must choose: cut down a large maple tree near the entrance or fix a nearby manhole/safety issue. Recommend one.” . Reddit
-
“Choose between buying a car vs. monthly transit pass for a commuter.” (recurring 2025 prep topic). TikTok
Template: Mention a clear choice → Put forth 2 to 3 weighted criteria (eg cost, safety, community impact, model, features) → Dont forget to address counter-point → Put forth a firm close.
Task 6 — Dealing with a Difficult Situation
-
“A neighbor’s late-night noise is affecting your sleep. Call and resolve it politely.” (conflict-resolution roleplays are standard across years). celtestpip.com
Template: Begin with a empathy opener → mention how it is specifically impacted you (eg: disturbing routine. affecting work routine, young kid at home) → mention a collaborative solution ( keeping volume low between 10pm to 6am )→ suggest and confirm next step.
Task 7 — Expressing Opinions
-
“Should mobile phones be banned in middle schools?” (opinion prompts on education/tech remain common across providers). E2 Blog
Template: Mention clearly your position → Add two reasons with mini-examples → dont forget to acknowledge the other side → Finally close by restatinf your stance.
Task 8 — Describing an Unusual Situation
-
“You found a bag at the transit station with IDs and tickets. Leave a voicemail explaining what you did and what they should do.” (unusual-situation voicemails continue to appear in official packs). CELPIP
Template: Explain the Context where when and how → mention the actions taken → what were the key identifiers (location/time) → mention next steps & contact information.
Why we trust these patterns: the task types and scoring are officially documented; July-2025 “topic flavors” above reflect user reports and coach content during the month, mapped to the official framework. CELPIP
3) How to turn these into CLB-9+ answers (fast)
Use the scoring grid as a checklist while you speak:
-
Content/Coherence: 3 ideas max, signposted (“First…”, “Second…”, “Finally…”). CELPIP
-
Vocabulary: prefer precise verbs (reduce, allocate, enforce); add one collocation per idea (traffic congestion, monthly pass, safety hazard). CELPIP
-
Listenability: steady pace, 2–3 natural pauses, avoid fillers, vary sentence length. CELPIP
-
Task Fulfillment: answer exactly what’s asked; include a recommendation when the task asks for one.
